Florian Hertweck is Full Professor in Architecture at the University of Luxembourg, leading the Master's program in Architecture. Previously, he held positions at École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Versailles and Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg. His research centers on socio-ecological transformation of urban environments.
Research focuses on:
- Low-carbon urban futures
- Sustainable spatial models for metropolitan regions
- Integration of ecological principles in territorial design
- Post-industrial landscape regeneration
Notable projects include directing 'Luxembourg in Transition' (developing spatial visions for carbon-neutral futures) and co-leading the Grand Genève spatial model consultation. Serves on Luxembourg's Superior Council for Spatial Planning (CSAT) and the scientific board of the Institute for Climate Protection, Energy and Mobility (IKEM). Curated the Luxembourg Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale and co-curated 'The Great Repair' exhibition in Berlin and Paris.
Editorial contributions include 'The Great Repair: Politiken der Reparaturgesellschaft' and 'Architektur auf gemeinsamem Boden: Positions and Models on the Land Question'. Conducts feasibility studies for Luxembourg government on architectural and urban development projects.
