Jun.Prof. Dr. Florian Diekert is an Assistant Professor in Environmental and Resource Economics at Heidelberg University’s Alfred Weber Institute (AWI) within the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences. His research focuses on understanding how natural environments shape human behavior and incentives, particularly in common-pool resource management. He leads the ERC Starting Grant project ‘NATCOOP’ exploring nature’s impact on economic agent preferences. Diekert holds a PhD from the University of Oslo (2011), with prior roles as PostDoc/Assistant Professor there (2011–2016).

Teaching includes Master-level courses on Natural Resource Economics and Bachelor courses on Common Pool Resources and Climate Change Conflict. His research team includes collaborators like Tillmann Eymess and Robbert-Jan Schaap, focusing on interdisciplinary projects such as OceanFrontChange and experimental economics on tipping points.
