Florian A. Kagerer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Michigan State University (MSU), with adjunct faculty status in the Neuroscience Program. He holds a Ph.D. from Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich. His research focuses on cognitive-motor control, coordination mechanisms, and the brain-behavior relationship, particularly in rehabilitation approaches for movement disorders. He employs advanced techniques such as motion capture, robotics, electromyography (EMG), electroencephalography (EEG), and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in both healthy and clinical populations across the lifespan.
His work bridges motor behavior analysis and neuroscience, aiming to inform innovative therapies for neurological movement disorders. The Motor Neuroscience Lab under his direction supports this interdisciplinary research. While no specific grants or awards are listed, his experimental methods emphasize translational applications from basic science to clinical practice.
