Florencia Sangermano is an Associate Professor of Geography at Clark University. She holds affiliations with Clark Labs, Biology, International Development, Community and Environment (IDCE), and the George Perkins Marsh Institute. Her academic trajectory includes a Licenciatura in Biology from Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata (2003), followed by an M.A. (2008) and Ph.D. (2009) in Geography from Clark University.
Her research focuses on geospatial analysis, remote sensing, landscape ecology, and ecoacoustics applied to conservation. Key projects include evaluating deforestation impacts on zoonotic spillover risk in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest and using soundscapes to monitor habitat health. She has led NSF-funded studies on land-use change in Brazil and collaborates with EcoHealth Alliance for One Health initiatives.
Her teaching includes courses on GIS, remote sensing, and conservation technologies. She has secured grants such as NSF BoCP-Design and UCGIS-TRELIS awards. Recent work links acoustic diversity to habitat structure and urbanization effects. She actively publishes in journals like Global Ecology and Conservation and Landscape and Urban Planning.
