Florence Schittekatte

Florence Schittekatte is a Part-time Assistant Professor at the Florence School of Regulation (European University Institute), with affiliations to the MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) and the MIT Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEPR). She previously held roles as a Senior Lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management, Research Scientist at MITEI, and Research Fellow at FSR.

• Education: Engineer from Ghent University, Belgium; EMIN international Master's in economics; PhD in energy economics from University Paris-Sud XI.

Her research focuses on electricity market design, regulation for net-zero transitions, and energy poverty mitigation. Key themes include cost-reflective tariffs, renewable integration, and policy frameworks for grid flexibility.

Recent publications analyze EU electricity reforms, tariff structures for residential electrification, and market mechanisms for energy storage. Her work bridges technical power system modeling with socioeconomic and regulatory implications.

She has collaborated on projects with FTI Consulting in London, focusing on global power market design.
