Carlos Batlle

Carlos Batlle is a Senior Lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management and a Professor at Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid. He also holds a part-time professorship at the Florence School of Regulation (European University Institute). His research focuses on electric power systems regulation, energy policy, and market design, with a particular emphasis on addressing energy poverty, decarbonization strategies, and system reliability.

He leads research initiatives at MIT Energy Initiative’s Electric Power Systems Low-Carbon Energy Center, supervising PhD and master’s dissertations. His work includes consulting for governments and regulatory bodies in over 30 countries, emphasizing energy market restructuring and policy implementation.
