Florence Mongin is a Professor at the University of Rennes, affiliated with the Institute of Chemical Sciences of Rennes (ISCR)-UMR 6226 and CNRS. She serves as Head of CORINT at the university's Beaulieu campus in Rennes, France.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Chemistry from Université de Rouen (1994), followed by a D. Sc. in Chemistry (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches) from the same institution in 2003. She completed postdoctoral research at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Lausanne, Switzerland (1995-1997).
Professor Mongin's research focuses on bimetallic bases, ferrocenes, and the synthesis of biologically relevant molecules. She specializes in aromatic heterocycles and stereoselective syntheses of ferrocene derivatives. Her work bridges organic chemistry with potential pharmaceutical applications, particularly in developing compounds with biological activity.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong emphasis on heterocyclic chemistry, with particular attention to quinoxalines, ferrocene derivatives, and complex multi-ring systems. These works show consistent application of bimetallic bases in synthetic approaches and increasing focus on compounds with biological relevance, particularly in cancer research and medicinal chemistry applications.
- Junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France (2009-2014)
Professor Mongin maintains active international collaborations with researchers in Algeria, Belarus, Germany, and Japan. Her laboratory at the University of Rennes appears to focus on synthetic organic chemistry with applications in medicinal chemistry, particularly exploring the interface between organometallic chemistry and biological activity. Her work with bimetallic bases represents a distinctive methodological approach within her research program.
