Miss Fliss Smith is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Activity, Health and Wellbeing at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), affiliated with the HAS - Allied Health Professions department. She holds an MRes in Health & Wellbeing and a BSc in Physiotherapy (Hons), and works as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with a focus on biopsychosocial approaches to chronic pain.
- Education: MRes Health & Wellbeing, BSc Physiotherapy (Hons)
- Teaching: Leads first-year apprenticeship modules on exercise, biomechanics, and academic skills, and second-year research modules. Supervises undergraduate dissertations.
- Research Interests: Interdisciplinary studies on green/blue spaces and health, wellbeing promotion, sedentary behavior, health inequalities, and qualitative methods.
Her recent publications analyze nature-based mindfulness for persistent pain, green space impacts on cognitive wellbeing, and physical activity interventions in rheumatoid arthritis. She also practices as a Pilates instructor and Outdoor Education Instructor, integrating mind-body approaches into her work.
