Flavia Vasconcellos Amaral is an Assistant Professor in the Classics Department at the University of Winnipeg. She holds a PhD in Classics from the University of São Paulo, along with previous postdoctoral research at the University of Toronto's Department of Classics (2019–2021). Her research focuses on Greek and Latin epigrams, Hellenistic poetry, funerary practices in ancient Greece, and the role of women in antiquity. She is a Communications Officer for the Women’s Network of the Classical Association of Canada and an editor for the UNESCO Cátedra Archai Science Communication Project.

Her work explores themes such as the poetics of self-epitaphs, drunkenness in funerary contexts, and the interplay between ancient poetry and visual culture. She has authored articles analyzing Hellenistic epigrams, funerary symbolism, and the reception of classical texts. Beyond academia, she founded the online platform Clássicas Dia a Dia to promote classical studies in Brazil and co-edits the podcast Archai, disseminating classical knowledge in Brazilian Portuguese.
Her publications demonstrate a sustained focus on funerary epigrams and their cultural significance, with recent work addressing topics such as equestrian poetry in Posidippus of Pella and ekphrastic techniques in ancient Greek epitaphs. She actively engages in public scholarship through digital platforms and academic networks.
