Fiorenzo Laghi is a Full Professor at the Department of Developmental and Socialization Psychology, Sapienza University of Rome, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Psychology. He leads research on preventing risky behaviors in adolescents, focusing on substance abuse, eating disorders (e.g., binge drinking, drunkorexia), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) interventions. His work emphasizes mentalization skills, attachment relationships, and time perspective as protective factors.
Recent studies include analyzing psychological functioning during the pandemic, social skills interventions for ASD youth, and cross-cultural investigations of sexting behaviors. He has held leadership roles, including Department Director since 2021 and Senate member since 2022. His research spans 20+ years, with over 150 peer-reviewed publications.
Key interests also include school inclusion strategies for neurodiverse students and well-being in sexual/gender minorities. He directs the ERC-funded 'MDIS-Migration Diversity and Inclusive Strategies' initiative and has coordinated master’s programs in Developmental Psychology.
