Dr Fiona Gullon-Scott is a Senior Lecturer and academic at Newcastle University's School of Psychology, affiliated with the DCLinPsy Programme and the Tizard Centre (University of Kent). She holds multiple roles, including Deputy Research Director of the DClinPsy Programme, Director of DClin Psy Progress, and Director of the Newcastle University Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service. Her work integrates clinical practice, research, and academia, with a focus on autism spectrum conditions, particularly in females.
Dr Gullon-Scott’s research explores autism identification in women and girls, cognitive and neuropsychological processes in autism, and overlaps with other conditions. She has developed a screening tool for autism in mainstream children and co-produced resources like a DVD on Asperger syndrome and an online MOOC on 'Understanding Autism'. Her international collaborations include training and consultancy in Singapore, Japan, Malta, Portugal, Hungary, and Finland.
She is the autism lead at the Psychological Therapies Clinic at Newcastle University and has contributed to policy initiatives such as the National Initiative for Assessment and Screening in Autism and the All Party Parliamentary Group for Autism. Her clinical practice emphasizes addressing diagnostic biases and improving awareness of autism’s diverse presentations.
