Fiona Carter

Fiona Carter is a Researcher in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Bath. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Surgery) from the University of Dundee (2001) and a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy & Physiology from the same institution (1991). Her research focuses on project management within cellular agriculture, surgical training and assessment, and perioperative care. She is also the Managing Director of the Enhanced Recovery after Surgery Society (UK), driving advancements in postoperative care protocols.

Key projects include the Cellular Agriculture Manufacturing Hub (2023–2030), funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, exploring sustainable food systems through cellular agriculture. Her work emphasizes innovation in surgical education, including national training initiatives for transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) and the development of standardized ERAS protocols.
