Prof. Dr. Fikret ÖZCAN is a Professor in the Department of Classical Archaeology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. His academic background includes a Licence in German Language and Literature from Hacettepe University (1981), an MA in Ancient Sciences from Freie University Berlin (1997), and a PhD in Classical Archaeology from Ruhr University Bochum (2007).
His research focuses on Classical Archaeology, specializing in Environmental Archaeology, Surface Survey Methodology, and the study of Hellenistic/Roman material culture in Anatolia. Key projects include leading the TÜBİTAK-funded Investigation of the Ancient City of Parlais (2021-2024) and directing the Northern Pisidia Surface Surveys since 2015.
ÖZCAN's publications demonstrate consistent focus on archaeological surveys in Pisidia, with recurring themes of landscape archaeology, ancient production systems (olive oil/wine), and terracotta analysis. His work frequently employs spatial analysis and geophysical prospection methods.
He has supervised 9 Master's students, with theses primarily addressing regional archaeology topics including ceramic studies, ancient urbanism, and terracotta figurines. Currently teaches courses spanning Classical Plastics, Roman Architecture, Urban Archaeology, and Thesis Supervision.
