Burak Sönmez

Burak Sönmez is a Lecturer in the Department of Classical Archaeology at Süleyman Demirel University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Ankara University (2009), Master's from Süleyman Demirel University (2016), and a Ph.D. in Classical Archaeology (2022). His research focuses on Hellenistic and Roman pottery analysis, Late Antique settlement patterns, and ceramic production techniques in ancient Pisidia.

Research interests include:

• Hellenistic and Roman ceramic typologies
• Late Antique urban development
• Ceramic production centers
• Archaeological survey methodologies
• Necropolis excavations
• Interregional trade networks

He directs fieldwork at Seleukeia Sidera, investigating production facilities and necropolis sites. His publications analyze red-slipped pottery groups and unguentarium production, contributing to understanding regional koinés during the Roman Imperial period.
