Fiammetta Venuti

Fiammetta Venuti is a Fixed-term tenure-track assistant professor in the Department of Architecture and Design (DAD) at the Polytechnic University of Turin. She specializes in structural engineering with a focus on architectural applications, particularly in the areas of footbridge dynamics, gridshells, human-induced vibrations, and masonry vaults.

Her research interests span several key areas of structural engineering and architectural design:

• Footbridge dynamics and vibration serviceability under crowd loading
• Gridshell structures and their design methodologies
• Human-induced vibrations in structural systems
• Masonry vaults and historical construction techniques
• Structural analysis and design of complex architectural forms

Dr. Venuti's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on computational structural analysis applied to architectural engineering problems, particularly in masonry vault restoration and gridshell structures. Her work consistently employs finite element modeling and simulation to address complex structural behavior in both historical preservation and contemporary design contexts.

Among her notable research projects is the REVHEAL Project, which investigates masonry cross vaults through both prototype design and full-scale testing simulations. She also serves as Scientific Director for the Departmental collaboration agreement between the Polytechnic University of Turin and the Polytechnic University of Milan (2020-2022).

Dr. Venuti actively supervises PhD student Sara Bordigoni Pistorello, whose research focuses on gridshell structures. Her teaching responsibilities span multiple academic levels, including the PhD program in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Master's Degree courses in Architecture for Sustainability, and undergraduate Architecture programs where she has consistently taught 'Morphology and Conception of Structures' since 2019/2020.
