She employs methodologies like post-occupancy evaluation and spatial analysis to investigate how modernization impacts historical urban fabrics while preserving collective memory. Her work frequently addresses cultural continuity in architectural transitions and sustainable heritage practices.
Kuyucu's publication trends reveal deep engagement with regional architectural identity, analyzing everything from Hermann Jansen's planning principles to staircase formations in traditional houses. Her recent work (2023-2025) intensifies focus on earthquake resilience and adaptive reuse strategies following the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, demonstrating responsiveness to contemporary regional challenges while maintaining scholarly continuity with decades of heritage research.
As an educator, she teaches core architecture courses including Architectural Design V-VI, Building Construction I, and Basic Design, primarily in English to international students. Her administrative contributions include leading the 'Kentimin Sürdürülebilirliğinde Söz Sahibiyim!' international research project (2020-2022) on sustainable urban development.
