Dr. Ömer Şen is an Associate Professor at Gaziantep University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Human Geography. His academic journey began with a Ph.D. in Geography from Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University (2016), preceded by a Master's in Geography Education (2005) and a Bachelor's in Geography Teaching (2003) from Gazi University.
- Research Focus: Human-environment interactions, urbanization dynamics, economic geography, climate change impacts, and spatial analysis of migration.
- Notable Projects: TÜBİTAK-funded studies on post-earthquake housing mobility (2022-2023), student housing segregation (2021-2022), and İzmir earthquake housing preferences (2023-2024).
His publications span 9 books/book chapters and 11 peer-reviewed articles, emphasizing Gaziantep's industrial clustering, urban heat islands, and regional export diversity. He has supervised 3 master's theses on topics including climate change in urban areas and refugee integration. Dr. Şen teaches courses in physical geography, political geography, urbanization, and regional economics, with a sustained focus on Turkey's socioeconomic and environmental challenges.
