Festus Amadu is an Assistant Professor at Florida Gulf Coast University’s Water School, specializing in Climate Policy through applied econometric methods. His research bridges climate adaptation, resilience, and mitigation strategies with a focus on sustainable agriculture and international development.
Dr. Amadu earned his PhD and MS in Agricultural and Environmental Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with additional MS and BSc degrees from Njala University and the University of Sierra Leone. His postdoctoral work at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Illinois explored forest-livelihood linkages in Africa.
His recent publications analyze climate-smart agriculture adoption, household income dynamics in Liberia, and peer-driven extension systems in Uganda. These works span sub-fields like policy evaluation, geospatial economics, and agrarian innovation in low-income settings.
Scientific awards include the Borlaug LEAP Fellowship. Dr. Amadu leads international collaborations on climate policy impacts and integrates machine learning with econometric models to address global sustainability challenges.
