Dr. Fernando Charro is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Wayne State University, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2009 and has held academic positions including Fulbright Visiting Scholar at The University of Texas at Austin (2010-2012) and Juan de la Cierva Fellow at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (2014-2017).
- Research Focus: Unified methods for degenerate fully nonlinear equations, qualitative properties of solutions, and applications in optimal control, geometry, image processing, and optimal transport.
- Teaching & Outreach: Leads the Undergraduate Mathematics Research Seminar (UMRS), organized SIAM symposiums, and designed STEM Day outreach activities tied to game theory and PDEs.
