Fernanda Tomaselli

Fernanda Tomaselli serves as Assistant Professor of Teaching and Land One Coordinator within the Department of Forest Resources Management at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Forestry. Her interdisciplinary expertise bridges environmental communication, ecological economics, and conservation pedagogy.

Her educational background includes:

• BSc in Environmental Communication (2005), Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador
• MSc (2011) and PhD (2017) from UBC Faculty of Forestry

Tomaselli's research centers on transformative climate pedagogies, specifically investigating how interactive methods like collaborative board games cultivate systems thinking and eco-agency in undergraduate students. She pioneers curriculum innovations addressing eco-anxiety through experiential learning, with particular focus on sustainability integration across first-year programming and international field studies in Ecuador. Her work critically examines communication strategies for post-growth economic transitions and community forest enterprises.
