Professor Ferdi Akman is a distinguished academic at Bingöl University, currently serving as Head of the Property Protection and Security Department within the Bingöl Social Sciences Vocational School. With a career spanning over 15 years in academia, he has established himself as a leading expert in Atomic and Molecular Physics and Radiation Physics. His academic journey began at Atatürk University, where he completed his Physics Teacher Training degree in 2007, followed by a PhD in Atomic and Molecular Physics in 2013. He progressed through the academic ranks, becoming an Associate Professor in 2018 and achieving the rank of Professor in November 2023.
Professor Akman's research focuses on X-ray excitation and absorption parameters, and ionizing radiation shielding. He has made significant contributions to the development and characterization of novel radiation shielding materials, particularly polymer composites, metal alloys, and ceramic materials. His work bridges fundamental physics with practical applications in nuclear power, medical radiation protection, and space exploration. With over 80 publications in SCI/SCI-E indexed journals and more than 2500 citations, his research has had substantial impact in the field.
Professor Akman has supervised multiple graduate students and currently leads an active research group investigating advanced radiation shielding solutions. His recent work has focused on ternary composites, metal-doped polymers, and innovative shielding materials for medical and industrial applications. He has successfully secured numerous research grants and maintains active international collaborations with researchers in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
