Feng Wang serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley, where he leads the Ultrafast NanoOptics Group. His research program focuses on cutting-edge investigations at the intersection of nanoscale physics and ultrafast optical phenomena.
His primary research explores light-matter interactions in nanoscale systems operating at femtosecond timescales, with specialized expertise in two-dimensional materials (particularly graphene), carbon nanotubes, and plasmonic nanostructures. This work bridges condensed matter physics, photonics, and quantum materials science, aiming to develop novel optoelectronic devices and quantum technologies through advanced spectroscopic techniques.
Dr. Wang's exceptional contributions have earned him numerous prestigious accolades:
- Sloan Research Fellowship
- Outstanding Young Researcher Award (Overseas Chinese Physics Association)
- IUPAP C10 Young Scientist Prize
- Hellman Family Faculty Award
- David and Lucile Packard Fellowship for Science and Engineering
- Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE)
He directs the Ultrafast NanoOptics Group at UC Berkeley, which pioneers experimental methodologies for probing electron dynamics and light confinement in nanomaterials, maintaining active collaborations across national laboratories and international research institutions.
