Feng Schöneweiß is a Research Fellow in the interdisciplinary 4A_Lab: Art Histories, Archaeologies, Anthropologies, Aesthetics at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz (September 2023–June 2025). He holds a Ph.D. in East Asian Art History and Transcultural Studies from Heidelberg University. His research focuses on ecological art history, the history of collecting, and transcultural studies. He has been supported by institutions such as the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Getty Foundation, and the American Ceramic Circle.
Education:

- Studies in Nanjing, Shanghai, Chicago, Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka, and Heidelberg
Research interests include the environmental impact of porcelain production in Jingdezhen, China, and the role of museum professionals in shaping curatorial practices. His current project examines energy consumption and ecological crises linked to early modern porcelain manufacturing. He has contributed to exhibitions at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden.
Advising and grants: His work has been funded by multiple prestigious grants, and he has co-edited museum catalogues. He previously worked as an assistant curator at Shanghai University Museum and taught at Heidelberg University.
Labs/teams: Active member of the 4A_Lab, collaborating on transcultural art history projects.
