Professor Feng Li is a faculty member at Columbia University, holding the position of Professor of Early Chinese History and Archaeology and serving as Director of the Tang Center for Early China. He is a visiting scholar at the University of Hamburg’s Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures (CSMC) from June to August 2024. His research focuses on the rise of complex societies, early bureaucracies, epigraphy, and economic dynamics in ancient China. He has led international archaeological projects, including a survey in China (2006–2011), and authored influential works such as *Landscape and Power in Early China* (2006) and *Early China: A Social and Cultural History* (2014). During his CSMC residency, he is investigating the role of text templates in Western Zhou bronze inscriptions (1045–771 BCE).
