Feng He
دانشیار · Post-transcriptional Gene Regulation
University of Massachusetts Chan Medical Schoolمعرفی
Feng He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology at UMass Chan Medical School. He holds a joint position in the T.H. Chan School of Medicine. His research focuses on post-transcriptional gene regulation in eukaryotes, particularly mechanisms of mRNA surveillance and decay. He completed his BS in Animal Science at Beijing University of Agriculture, followed by MS and PhD in Genetic & Molecular Biology at the National Institute of Agronomy in France.
His research interests include nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD), translational fidelity, and the molecular mechanisms governing mRNA decapping. Key areas of study involve ribosome interactions, mRNA surveillance complexes, and the regulation of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. He leads a research lab at UMass Chan Medical School (Lab URL: https://www.umassmed.edu/maps/research-labs/he/).
Recent publications highlight his work on ribosome-bound mRNA surveillance complexes, decapping enzyme regulation, and transcriptome-wide analysis of stop codon readthrough. His contributions span molecular biology, genetics, and cell biology, with a focus on understanding how cells monitor and regulate mRNA quality and stability.
Dr. He collaborates with prominent researchers such as Allan Jacobson and has published widely in journals like RNA, FEBS Journal, and Molecular Cell. His work bridges fundamental molecular mechanisms with broader implications for genetic regulation and disease.
