Feng Gao

Dr. Feng Gao is an Assistant Professor jointly appointed in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences and the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

His academic journey began with a PhD in Computational Science and Environmental Toxicology from Michigan State University, followed by postdoctoral training at Columbia University and Yale University before joining UCLA.

Dr. Gao’s research focuses on understanding how environmental exposures—such as metals, pesticides, air pollution, and PFAS—affect human health outcomes including cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and aging. To achieve this, his group leverages multi-omics data (genetics, epigenetics, transcriptomics, metabolomics) and develops novel computational methodologies for exposure assessment modeling, toxicity prediction, biomarker identification, and multi-omics integration. The overarching goal is early disease detection and improved public health.
