Jackie Goodrich

Jackie Goodrich is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Michigan School of Public Health and serves as a Faculty Associate for Global Public Health. She co-leads the DoGoodS-Pi environmental epigenetics laboratory and the Pan Omics and Data Sciences Core of the Michigan Lifestage Environmental Exposures and Disease (M-LEEaD) Center.

Dr. Goodrich's research integrates toxicology, epidemiology, and epigenomics to investigate how environmental exposures (lead, phthalates, PFAS) alter DNA methylation and increase disease susceptibility across life-stages—from prenatal development through adulthood. She focuses on vulnerable populations including Mexican birth cohorts (ELEMENT, MMIP, ECHO) and U.S. firefighters, examining maternal-child health outcomes, occupational toxicity, and sex-specific biological responses. Her work employs epigenome-wide approaches to translate molecular changes into public health interventions.

Analysis of her 15 most recent publications (2024-2025) reveals three dominant trends: (1) occupational exposure studies in firefighters examining PFAS, metabolic disruption, and mental health impacts on epigenetic aging; (2) prenatal environmental exposures (phthalates, bisphenols, lead) linked to child developmental outcomes via multi-omics platforms; and (3) sex-specific epigenetic reprogramming in response to toxins. Over 70% of these works involve international collaborations, particularly with Mexican cohorts, and 40% directly address firefighting exposures.

Dr. Goodrich co-directs the DoGoodS-Pi laboratory, which pioneers epigenetic exposure mapping in diverse populations, and the M-LEEaD Center's Pan Omics Core, which develops integrated data pipelines for environmental health studies. Her leadership spans methodological innovation in epigenome analysis and cohort management in global settings.
