Felwine Sarr is the Anne-Marie Bryan Distinguished Professor of French and Francophone Studies and Professor of Romance Studies at Duke University's Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Orleans (France, 2006). His academic career includes roles as Research Professor (2020–2022) and Anne-Marie Bryan Distinguished Research Professor (2021–2022) before his current position.

Research Interests: Focuses on African philosophy, Francophone literature, and cultural studies with particular attention to music history in contemporary Africa and postcolonial discourse. Integrates interdisciplinary approaches exploring corporeality, gesture, and movement in modern thought.

Teaching & Engagement: Teaches courses spanning African philosophy, Francophone African literature, and music politics in Africa. Recent courses include 'Music History and Politics in Contemporary Africa' and 'Introduction to Contemporary African Philosophy.' Maintains external academic ties with EHESS (École des hautes études en sciences sociales).
Publications: Contributed to 11 Duke-authored books on global perspectives (2021) and was highlighted in Duke faculty introductions (2020).
