Felix H. Cortez is Professor of New Testament Literature at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, Andrews University, where he teaches in the Department of New Testament. His academic journey includes a PhD in Religion with emphasis in New Testament Studies from Andrews University (2008), an MA in Modern Literature from Universidad Iberoamericana with focus on Literary Theory and Hermeneutics (2001), and a BA from Universidad de Montemorelos.
His scholarly work centers on New Testament Literature, particularly the Letter to the Hebrews, Hermeneutics, and Covenant theology. Dr. Cortez examines biblical texts through interdisciplinary lenses that integrate literary theory with theological interpretation, exploring both the cosmic dimensions and practical applications of Scripture.
Dr. Cortez has published over 90 academic and popular articles and book chapters, with notable works including Within the Veil: The Ascension of the Son in the Letter to the Hebrews (2020) and In These Last Days: The Message of Hebrews (2022). His recent publications indicate continued scholarly productivity with works scheduled for 2024-2025 on Anabaptist Scripture readings and Christological implications.
