Professor Felix Eigenbrod is a Professor of Applied Spatial Ecology at the University of Southampton. His research focuses on sustainable landscape management, addressing trade-offs between human needs (e.g., food production, renewable energy) and biodiversity conservation. He leads projects on ecosystem service modeling, spatial scale analysis, and big data applications. Current initiatives include the Agroforestry Futures and iDeer platforms.
- Editorial roles: Scientific Reports (2014–2016) and Landscape Ecology (2016–present)
- PhD supervision in Geography and INSPIRE programs
- Collaborations with EPSRC and NERC on energy systems and rural development
Research interests emphasize spatial ecology, sustainability assessment, and methodological innovation. His work integrates computer models and statistical approaches to address real-world challenges like UK tree planting strategies and greenspace mental health impacts.
Recent publications highlight landscape-scale sustainability frameworks, biodiversity offset limitations, and urbanization dynamics using social media data. Grants include EPSRC-funded projects on energy systems and rural development strategies.
