Professor Tongli Wang is a faculty member at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Forestry, Department of Forest and Conservation Sciences. His research focuses on ecosystem ecology, climate change adaptation, forest genetics, landscape genomics, and sustainable forest management.
Research highlights include:
- Development of scale-free climate models integrating paleoclimate, historical, and future climate data
- Pioneering work with Universal Response Function (URF) models for forest genetics
- Creation of web-based mapping tools for tree species conservation status
- Landscape genomics research predicting spatial genomic variation and seed zones
2025 publications demonstrate continued innovation in climate modeling, agroforestry impacts, and ecological niche modeling applications for forest adaptation. His work spans North America, Asia-Pacific, and Africa, with significant contributions to assisted migration strategies and carbon storage modeling.
Research areas:
- Climate change adaptation
- Forest genetic conservation
- Landscape genomics
- Agroforestry systems
