Felipe Martinez-Pinzon

Felipe Martínez-Pinzón is an Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies at Brown University. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, he holds a B.A. in Literature and a J.D. in Law from Universidad de los Andes, and a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature from NYU. His career began at CUNY’s College of Staten Island before joining Brown in 2015. His research focuses on 19th-century Latin American literature, ecocriticism, tropical studies, and nation-building narratives, with special attention to Colombian and Amazonian cultural histories.

He is the author of *Patricios en contienda* and *Una cultura de invernadero*, and has edited volumes like *La vorágine: centenario de un clásico latinoamericano*. His work explores themes such as costumbrismo, citizenship, visual culture, and the intersection of climate and politics.

His publications span literary criticism, historical analysis, and edited collections, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to Latin American studies. He has contributed chapters to *The Routledge Hispanic Studies Companion* and *A Companion to World Literature*, among others.
