Dr. Oscar Rivera-Rodas is a Professor in the Department of Hispanic Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His work centers on Latin American literature and culture, with a focus on colonial/postcolonial thought, modernity, and textual theory.

Dr. Rivera-Rodas’ research explores intersections of history, philosophy, and literary discourse in Latin America, including the hermeneutics of poetic modernity and the rhetoric of silence. His publications span critical essays, historical analyses of 19th-century poetry, and metatheatrical studies of Latin American drama.

He founded and chairs the Jornadas Internacionales de Teatro Latinoamericano and Jornadas Internacionales de Poesía Latinoamericana in Puebla, México, since 1993.
