Felipe Guzman

Felipe Guzman is the Jack Lee Jewell Endowed Chair and Professor of Optical Sciences and Physics at the Wyant College of Optical Sciences, University of Arizona. He holds a joint faculty appointment and is a key contributor to international gravitational-wave collaborations such as the LISA Consortium and LIGO Scientific Collaboration.

Research Interests: Guzman’s work focuses on optomechanical inertial sensing technologies, optical precision measurements, and system characterization. His laboratory (LASSO) develops sensors for gravitational-wave astronomy, space geodesy, and quantum-based geodesy. Key applications include inertial navigation systems, gravity gradiometry, and low-frequency sensing.

Recent Research Trends: Recent articles emphasize advancements in optomechanical interferometry (e.g., LISA telescope prototypes), gravitational-wave detection (O3/O4 runs), and fusion of deep learning with optical systems for high-speed imaging and wavefront sensing.
