Felipe Fregni

Dr. Felipe Fregni is an Associate Professor at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Director of the Spaulding Neuromodulation Center at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. He holds an MD and PhD from the University of São Paulo, as well as advanced degrees from Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health. His research focuses on non-invasive brain stimulation techniques like tDCS and TMS to address chronic pain, stroke recovery, and maladaptive brain plasticity. He leads a multinational team of researchers and clinicians, emphasizing international collaboration in neurorehabilitation and clinical research education.

Dr. Fregni's academic credentials include Neurology residency at University of São Paulo, post-doctoral training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and visiting fellowships at institutions in Germany and Brazil. His work bridges clinical practice with cutting-edge neuromodulation technologies, aiming to translate experimental findings into practical therapies for neurological disorders.

His research lab supports over 20 fellows annually from diverse global backgrounds, fostering cross-cultural exchange and skill development in clinical research methodologies. The team’s publications (2018-2019) span pain modulation strategies, stroke motor recovery, and telemedicine applications of tDCS. Training initiatives like the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research course have trained hundreds of investigators worldwide.
