Dr. Felicity Hasson is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Paramedic Science at the University of Ulster, affiliated with the Institute of Nursing and Health Research. With a PhD (2012) and MSc (1996) from Ulster, her career spans over 20 years in healthcare research. She specializes in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research, focusing on palliative care, end-of-life issues, and healthcare workforce dynamics. She is a member of the All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care’s Palliative Care Research Network.
Her research interests include healthcare workforce training, public awareness of palliative care, and multidisciplinary care models for chronic illnesses. Key areas include advance care planning, cultural aspects of end-of-life care, and healthcare assistant roles in hospice settings. Recent work examines international student experiences at Ulster and constipation management in palliative care.
Her publications span 20+ years, addressing topics such as palliative care day services, healthcare professional resilience, and dementia care training. She has contributed to policy developments in palliative care through studies on service delivery and workforce well-being. Her work often employs innovative methodologies like realist reviews and artistic expression to explore complex healthcare challenges.
