Feiyue Wang

Dr. Feiyue Wang is a Professor and Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Arctic Environmental Chemistry at the University of Manitoba, where he also serves as Associate Dean (Research) for the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources. He leads the Environmental Chemistry and Biogeochemistry Group and is the Project Lead for both the Churchill Marine Observatory (CMO) and the Sea-ice Environmental Research Facility (SERF). His research focuses on understanding the processes controlling the release, fate, and effects of contaminants in Arctic ecosystems amid climate change.

Dr. Wang's research addresses critical environmental challenges in the rapidly changing Arctic. He employs both field measurements in the Canadian Arctic and controlled laboratory experiments to understand fundamental chemical processes in sea ice and cold environments. His research team works closely with Indigenous rights holders and other stakeholders to develop practical solutions for sustainable Arctic development.

Dr. Wang leads several major research facilities including the Churchill Marine Observatory (CMO), which officially opened in 2024, and the Sea-ice Environmental Research Facility (SERF). His research group includes technicians, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students working collaboratively on Arctic environmental chemistry problems. The group has established international partnerships with institutions in Denmark, China, and the United States to advance understanding of polar environmental processes.
