معرفی
Feixue Fu is a Research Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Southern California (USC). Their research focuses on marine nitrogen fixation, nutrient limitation of phytoplankton, and the impacts of global climate change on marine ecosystems. Fu holds visiting scientist roles at the University of Otago (New Zealand) and the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (China).
Education includes a Ph.D. from the University of Queensland (Australia) and postdoctoral training at the University of Delaware. Key research themes include cyanobacteria (e.g., Trichodesmium, Crocosphaera) physiology, harmful algal bloom dynamics, and the effects of rising CO₂ and temperature on phytoplankton communities.
Funded projects include studies on CO₂-driven gene expression in Trichodesmium, climate change effects on harmful algae, and trace metal requirements in a high-CO₂ ocean. Over $1.4M in grants have supported this work, including NSF and USC WiSE Program funding.
Presentations and publications span conferences like ASLO and Ocean Sciences Meetings, with contributions to journals such as Limnology and Oceanography and Harmful Algae. Ongoing work investigates long-term acclimation of marine microbes to environmental stressors and the molecular mechanisms underlying climate adaptation.
