Federica Veratelli

Federica Veratelli is an Associate Professor at the University of Parma since 2019, affiliated with the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Industries. She earned her PhD in Performing and Visual Arts from the University of Ferrara in 2004 and has held prestigious academic positions including Research Fellow at KU Leuven (2004-2008) and Assistant Professor at the University of Parma (2016-2019).

• Research Focus: Her work examines artistic and economic exchanges between Flanders and Italy during the Early Modern period, particularly through archival analysis of the Chambre des comptes de Lille. She explores how Italian merchants acted as cultural intermediaries for Burgundian and Habsburg elites, disseminating Renaissance aesthetics. Additional interests include museology, art provenance, and historical forgery cases.
• Key Publications: Notable works include A la mode italienne (2013), which analyzes luxury trade dynamics, and recent 2024 articles on Memling’s Italian patrons and Renaissance cultural networks. Her studies often bridge economic history and artistic influence.
• Awards & Memberships: Recipient of the 2006 Rogier van der Weyden prize and 2015 Henri Pirenne prize. She joined the Académie royale d'Archéologie et histoire de l'art de Belgique as Membre associé étranger in 2022 and serves on the Emilia-Romagna region’s Scientific Committee for Cultural Heritage since 2024.
