Dr. Federica Maria Angela Rizzi is an Associate Professor at the Department of Medicine and Surgery, University of Parma, Italy. She has been affiliated with the University of Parma since 2010 as a University Researcher in the Department of Experimental Medicine. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Bologna and dual specializations in Food Chemistry and Clinical Biochemistry.
- Education
- PhD in Biochemistry (SSD BIO/10), University of Bologna (2008)
- Specialization in Clinical Biochemistry, University of Parma (2004)
- Specialization in Food Chemistry and Technology, University of Parma (2000)
- MSc in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, University of Bologna (1997)
Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms in prostate cancer, including the role of clusterin, epigenetic regulation, and chemopreventive effects of green tea catechins. She has pioneered diagnostic tools through RT-qPCR and explored gene expression dynamics in cancer models.
Recent publications highlight her work in epigenetic therapies (EZH2/BET inhibitors in prostate cancer), cancer metabolism, and biomaterials (3D printing applications). Her scientific awards include:
- EAU Award for Best Communication (2008)
- ESUR Travel Award (2007)
- INBB Young Researcher Award (2006)
- FEBS Travel Grant (2009)
- A. Pistani Lyons Club Award (1997)
She has coordinated multidisciplinary studies involving biomedical laboratory techniques, exercise biochemistry, and nutraceutical applications. Her teaching spans molecular biology courses in Medicine and Surgery, Biomedical Laboratory Techniques, and Human Nutrition programs at the University of Parma.
