Fatih Safa Erenay is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management Sciences at the University of Waterloo. His research integrates stochastic modeling, optimization techniques, and healthcare policy analysis. He holds a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2010), an MSc (2006) and BSc (2004) in Industrial Engineering from Bilkent University.
Dr. Erenay's research spans three key areas: healthcare decision-making (organ transplantation protocols, cancer screening optimization, and vaccine distribution), stochastic modeling (Markov decision processes, simulation-based optimization), and production systems (multi-criteria scheduling, facility design). His medical research specifically examines chronic disease management through collaborations with Mayo Clinic and Grand River Hospital.
Analysis of his 15 most recent publications reveals strong thematic clusters: healthcare operations (67%), optimization methodology (20%), and energy/process engineering (13%). Primary methodologies include stochastic modeling, simulation-based optimization, and cost-effectiveness analysis applied to medical and industrial systems.
