Fatih Kurtuldu, PhD, is a Researcher at the Department of Biomaterials within the Joint Glass Centre (Vitrum Laugaricio – VILA) at Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, Slovakia. His work is connected to the FunGlass Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass, a project funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
Dr. Kurtuldu's research focuses on bioactive materials with therapeutic applications, particularly investigating how different ion dopants (zinc, gallium, cerium) affect the properties of bioactive glasses and nanoparticles. His work bridges materials science and biomedical applications, with emphasis on developing materials that simultaneously promote bone regeneration while providing antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects.
His recent publications reveal a strong trend toward developing multifunctional bioactive materials that address multiple challenges in tissue engineering simultaneously. Rather than focusing on single properties, his research explores how specific ion combinations can create materials with synergistic effects for wound healing and bone regeneration applications.
