Faten Raissi Ridene is an Assistant Professor in Cinema & Audiovisual at the Higher Institute of Applied Studies in Humanities El Kef, University of Jendouba, Tunisia. She serves as a member of the University Council for the 2024-2027 mandate and the International Ranking Committee at the University of Jendouba. Her academic journey includes studies at the High School of Audiovisual and Cinema (ESAC) at Gammarth-Carthage University from 2014 to 2020, where she specialized in Cinema and Audiovisual.
Dr. Ridene's research focuses on the intersection of film with cultural heritage preservation, particularly examining how audiovisual media documents and safeguards intangible cultural heritage like couscous (recognized by UNESCO). Her scholarly work spans Tunisian cinema history, African cinema studies (with notable research on Sembene Ousmane), animation studies across Africa and the Arab world, and the pedagogical applications of stop motion animation enhanced by artificial intelligence. She investigates how films function as cultural mirrors reflecting national identity and heritage awareness, while also serving as tourism promotion tools.
Her publication record demonstrates significant scholarly productivity with 270 publications generating over 113,925 reads. Dr. Ridene has pioneered research on the impact of violence in animation on children, the role of biographical films in preserving cultural memory, and the transformation of educational methodologies during and after the pandemic toward immersive teaching in the metaverse.
