Dr. Farzad Arabikhan is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Computing, University of Portsmouth, and a member of the Portsmouth AI and Data Science Centre and the Centre for Healthcare Modelling & Informatics. He holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (focusing on telecommuting predictive models) and an MSc in Transportation Systems and Planning from Sharif University of Technology. His research interests span Computational Intelligence (including fuzzy logic, neural networks, and genetic algorithms), Intelligent Transportation Systems, and Activity-Based Transport Modelling. He currently teaches courses in Practical Data Science, Computer Architecture, Network Fundamentals, and off-campus transportation engineering units.
His research outputs emphasize machine learning applications in healthcare informatics, cybersecurity, and food science, alongside foundational work in fuzzy systems and federated learning. Notable contributions include explainable AI frameworks, medical image classification, and adversarial attack detection in malware systems. He is actively involved in PhD supervision and has collaborated with institutions globally on interdisciplinary projects.
Dr. Arabikhan's work integrates AI with real-world challenges, such as bacterial growth prediction in food safety and optimizing project management through hybrid algorithms. His affiliations with healthcare and AI centres highlight his commitment to impactful, cross-disciplinary research.
