معرفی
Farshad Arvin is a Professor of Robotics in Durham University's Department of Computer Science. He previously held roles at the University of Manchester, including Senior Lecturer in Robotics, and has extensive postdoctoral experience in robotics research. His research focuses on Biohybrid Robotics, Bio-inspired Swarm Robotics, and Autonomous Multi-agent Systems. He leads the Swarm & Computation Intelligence Laboratory (SwaCIL), managing a team of researchers and securing over £4M in funding from EU, EPSRC, and industry. Key projects include H2020-FET RoboRoyale (€3.27M) and Horizon Europe Sensorbees (€3.2M).
Education:
- BSc in Computer Engineering (2004)
- MSc in Computer Systems Engineering (2010)
- PhD in Computer Science (2015)
Research Interests: His work spans bio-inspired swarm systems, multi-agent coordination, and autonomous robotics. Recent projects emphasize applications in environmental monitoring, hazardous environments, and biohybrid systems integrating living organisms with robotic components.
Grants & Funding: Over £4M secured for projects like RoboRoyale (2021–2026), Sensorbees (2024–2029), and BioDiMoBot (2025–2030). His research explores decentralized control, reinforcement learning, and swarm intelligence for real-world challenges.
Labs & Teams: Founded SwaCIL in 2018, which includes 4 postdocs, 6 PhD students, and technical staff. The lab develops advanced robotics solutions for industrial, environmental, and healthcare applications.
