Farrukh Saleem

Dr. Farrukh Saleem is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Built Environment, Engineering and Computing at Leeds Beckett University, UK. He previously served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Systems, Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Technology Malaysia.

Dr. Saleem's research focuses on cutting-edge areas in computing, particularly Machine Learning, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Decision Support Systems, Business Intelligence, and Enterprise Architecture. His work bridges theoretical advancements with practical applications in business and healthcare contexts. He has led and taught numerous undergraduate and postgraduate modules such as Machine Learning, Data Mining, and Software Engineering in both face-to-face and online formats.

The recent publications and projects reflect a strong trend towards applying AI and data science techniques in healthcare and public service domains, especially in stress and emotion detection systems for frontline healthcare workers.

Dr. Saleem has supervised multiple undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive MS research projects in computer science and machine learning domains. He has been involved in 10 funded research projects, demonstrating sustained research activity and grant acquisition. His administrative experience includes leadership roles such as Director of Academic Affairs, Head of Academic Advising Unit, Program Coordinator, and membership in key university committees including the Focused Curriculum Committee, Graduate and Scientific Research Committee, and Accreditation Committee.

He is actively engaged in interdisciplinary research, particularly through partnerships with healthcare providers like IC24, focusing on real-world impact in urgent care settings.
