Farkas Katalin

Katalin Farkas is a Professor of Philosophy and currently serves as Provost and Academic Pro-Rector at Central European University (CEU). She has been a faculty member at CEU's Philosophy Department since 2000, rising from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and eventually Professor, while also leading the department from 2007 to 2010. Her academic journey began with studies in mathematics and philosophy at Eötvös Loránd University, followed by a PhD (1998) and a Doctor of Science degree (2010) from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Research Interests: Farkas specializes in the philosophy of mind, focusing on the phenomenal character of experiences, mental content, and empirical psychology. Her work includes restoring Descartes' philosophical reputation and categorizing mental phenomena such as perception, dreams, and beliefs.
