Dr. Faris B. Mismar is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Dallas, within the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. He is also a Senior Principal Consultant at Nokia Bell Labs, where he contributes to cutting-edge research in wireless communications and AI. His academic and industrial work bridges deep learning with next-generation wireless networks.

Dr. Mismar's research focuses on applying machine learning and artificial intelligence to enhance radio resource management in 5G and beyond, particularly in terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks. His work includes intelligent spectrum allocation, generative AI for network design, and deep learning for beam management and interference mitigation. He has pioneered solutions for proactive handoff, massive MIMO compression, and self-diagnosing networks using unsupervised learning.
His recent publications highlight a strong trend in integrating deep learning and reinforcement learning into wireless networking, with applications in 6G, beamforming, interference detection, and network automation. These works span IEEE journals and top-tier conferences, demonstrating consistent innovation in AI-driven wireless systems.

He holds three patents and has authored over 10 publications. He currently teaches EESC 7v86: Special Topics in Wireless Communications at UT Dallas and is not accepting new students.
Dr. Mismar is affiliated with Nokia Bell Labs, where he serves as a Senior Principal Consultant and previously as Head of Data Science and AI in Mobile Networks. His work integrates academic rigor with real-world deployment, influencing both industry standards and academic research in 6G and AI-enabled wireless systems.
