Farid S. Fouad

Dr. Farid S. Fouad is a Professor at Kent State University's East Liverpool campus. His research spans two primary areas: 1) Electrochemical detection of peroxynitrite using aryl selenide-modified electrodes, with focus on optimizing detection sensitivity through substituent effects, and 2) Synthesis of heterocyclic compounds for pharmaceutical applications and material sciences, including liquid crystals, semiconductors, and organic gelators.

His work employs both conventional and microwave-assisted synthetic techniques, with recent publications exploring structure-property relationships in fluorinated liquid crystalline oxadiazoles and thiadiazoles. Research demonstrates significant expertise in molecular design of mesogenic compounds and development of electrocatalytic biosensors. Publication analysis shows consistent focus on liquid crystal engineering and electrochemical interface design.

Dr. Fouad earned his Ph.D. from Northeastern University and conducted postdoctoral research at Purdue University.
