Farhang Erfani

Farhang Erfani is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at American University, where he has taught since 2005. He concurrently serves as a Research Associate at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa. His academic foundation includes a PhD from Villanova University and a BA from the University of the Pacific.

Erfani's research explores intersections of political theory, aesthetics, and existentialism, with emphases on:

• Political Dynamics: Democratic theory, globalization, and exile
• Aesthetic Inquiry: Philosophy of film (particularly Iranian cinema) and boredom
